Topic: 26th Ohio Infantry

The 26th Ohio Veteran Volunteer Infantry: The Groundhog Regiment tells the story of 1200 men who fought to preserve the Union during the American Civil War. These men were among the first to answer President Lincoln’s call to duty, and one of the last to be mustered home. The Old 26th played a pivotal role in numerous major western theater campaigns and battles. From the early conflicts in western Virginia to the bloody fields of Stones River, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Kennasaw, Peachtree Creek, Atlanta,Spring Hill,Franklin, and Nashville, these men were in the thick of the battle 

Author Jeffrey Hill will recount some of the highlights of the 26th Ohio, including an overview of their involvement during one the bloodiest conflicts of the entire war, the battle of Chickamauga.
